What age does my child have to be?

We offer enrollment for 2-5 year old children. Potty trained is not required. Just provide us with diapers.

What is the maximum enrollment?

Twelve children is our maximum per day. To create a more nurturing environment, we try to keep our enrollment at ten per day.

Food and Nutrition?

We provide a morning & afternoon snack. For lunch, we will provide a variety of fruits and vegetables plus a healthy carb. We ask families to provide a protein or main dish for their child, that way unique dietary needs can be met. A complete lunch can be served upon request. Milk and water will be offered at both snacks and lunch. We will accommodate for any food allergies. Often, children will participate in food prep and we will have days when we prepare a special treat.

Guidance Policy?

We respect children as individuals. We guide the children with positive language and loving yet firm encouragement. We emphasize empathy and the rights of each child.

Community?

Throughout the year, we will have gatherings in the evening or weekends so all parents have the opportunity to participate in celebrations and get to know one another. This may include a meet and greet potluck, Autumn soup dinner (the children will help prepare the soup), a Winter holiday party, Spring garden planting day and an end of the year/graduation celebration for five year olds heading to kindergarten.

Celebrations?

We love to celebrate! Whether it's a birthday or becoming a big sibling we will celebrate. Sometimes there could be a child led spirit day, (Hey, we both have sparkle shoes! Let's wear them on the same day) or an impromptu dance party. We believe in the joy and magic of childhood!

What do we need to bring?

Provide a complete labeled change of clothing (this will stay at school for emergencies). We go outside everyday, so weather appropriate clothing is suggested. A backpack or bag. A small water bottle that we can put a name and symbol on. Children are welcome to bring a snuggle or special blanket. Any special foods or equipment. Full Day students: blanket and pillow for rest time. Protein for lunch. Diapers if needed.

Eco Friendly?

Yes! We use cleaners that are environmentally safe. We implement the 3 R's: Reduce, Re-use and Recycle (and compost). Produce is almost always organic and we buy local when possible. Milk is organic and we offer a milk alternative. Art materials are non-toxic. We share our love for the planet and its creatures and how to care for it.

Please e-mail Lisa with any other questions you may have. I'd love to add to this list.
